Loughborough became back-to-back BUCS Champions winning the competition for a second year running after a 25 year Championship drought for the University, with a 73-62 victory over Durham.

Leicester Riders guard Eric Robertson took home MVP honours for Loughborough leading the scoring with 15 points including a pair of huge three-point shots late in the game to lift his team over Durham.

The win marked a double for the programme, as they also took the Women’s title.

“Any day like today is really special,” commentated Coach Mark Jarram. “These are memories and moments the guys won’t forget and it testament to what we have been working towards across the course of a long season.

“We don’t try and do anything different for finals, we got there from playing solid defence and that’s what helped us win this Championship. We wanted to be playing our best basketball come playoff time and we managed to do that and hold teams to very low numbers.

“Massive thank you to all the previous and current players, staff and support we receive to help us reach such an incredible achievement!”
