- National Teams
England under-16’s captain Carl Wheatle has been named to the all-tournament team after leading his side to promotion at the European Championships.
Wheatle finished the campaign with an average of 13.3 points per game and 9.0 rebounds as well as 2.8 assists whilst recording five double-doubles throughout the tournament.
In the important third place playoff, the Biella forward produced a big performance with 13 points and 17 rebounds as England secured a bronze medal by beating the Czech Republic.
Montenegro’s gold winning duo Milos Popovic (MVP) and Ognjen Carapic also made the All-Tournament team alongside Israel’s Yovel Zoosman and Macedonia guard Nenad Dimitrijevikj.
And Head Coach Alan Keane was delighted with his captain.

Prior to the tournament, Wheatle told Hoopsfix the team were capable of achieving promotion and lived up to expectations with a 3rd place finish whilst earning a personal accolade with a spot in the All-Tournament team.
The unity of the England squad was evident throughout and rather fittingly all 12 members of the squad got on the scoreboard in the final game to complete a great team effort in Macedonia.
