The England Under-16s got past Finland, 82-66, in Finland on Wednesday, to get their second to last preparation trip abroad before the Europeans off to a good start.
“The more time we are together, we are getting better and become more connected on both ends of the court,” said head coach Andreas Kapoulas after the game. “We shared court time and players from the bench were very effective. It was a good team effort and performance however we are making sure to stay focused and not allow complacency. We still have areas to work on and we are all concentrating on our preparation.”
Josh Steel led England with 23 points on 7/12 shooting, whilst Carl Wheatle (pictured, above), still a year young (’98), had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Denzel Ubiaro added 9 points.
England will take on Finland in Game 2 on Thursday afternoon at 3pm UK time.
