Clark & Lenzly Given Green Light

Dan Clark GB vs Spain

Dan Clark GB vs SpainGB officials announced today that Dan Clark and Mike Lenzly passed final fitness tests on Thursday and will be playing in the Olympics which starts on Sunday in London.

Starting guard Lenzly suffered a calf tear during last week’s friendly against USA, while Clark suffered an ankle sprain playing against Tunisia at the weekend, making them both doubts for the Games.

Today was marked as the last day for changes to the team list if one or both of the players were ruled out, but both were deemed fit for Sunday’s opener against Russia.

Performance Director Chris Spice said:

“Thanks to some outstanding work by our medical team at our dedicated training base both Dan and Mike have been cleared to compete in the Olympics.

“Both players have worked tirelessly on their rehabilitation and should be congratulated on their efforts.”

It remains to be seen just how fit they are, but the BBC’s Chris Mitchell is reporting both are expected to receive minutes on Sunday.
