Head of Performance for British Basketball, Warwick Cann commented on the decision to cut players and looking to the future:

“This year there were 20 players who are very talented and who are committed to playing for GB. As a consequence, it was a tough decision to make the first cut. Ultimately physical fitness and the ability to be in first-class physical shape was a key criteria for this stage.

“We are now not only preparing for each season but with an eye on the following year by selecting bottom age players. For some of our players who have missed out will hopefully be seen again if they continue to develop their skills and fitness”

The GB under-20 men are in Division B for the European Youth Championships and are drawn in Group C which will see them face Portugal (14 July), Finland ( 15 July), Luxemburg (16 July), Norway (17 July), and Czech Republic (18 July) when they take to the court in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

Any surprises in the cuts? Will you be attending the games in Bristol at the end of this week?
