Jubrile Belo Signs to Montana State University

Former Barking Abbey/NASSA and Great Britain Under-20 big man Jubrile Belo has signed to NCAA Division 1 school Montana State University for the 2019-20 season.

The 1998 born forward is currently in his Sophomore year at Lamar Community College, where he is averaging 12.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks on 55% shooting through 8 games.

“Signing to a four year program has always been the goal since I moved out here and having achieved that goal makes me realise that hard work will always pay off,” Belo told Hoopsfix.

“Overall I’m just really looking forward to playing basketball at a higher level and living that D1 lifestyle.”

A late bloomer, the athletic Belo had never represented the National Team before his call up with the Under-20s in 2017. He will join fellow Brit Chris Haslam at Montana State, who is on the coaching staff.

Belo becomes the second Brit to attend MSU in recent years, following in the footsteps of Joe Junior Mvuezolo who graduated last season and has now signed in the BBL with Leicester Riders.

Belo is one of four British players to sign NCAA Division 1 in the early signing period, joining Mate Okros, Hosana Kitenge and Henri Langton.
