GB Senior Men’s Prep Schedule Revealed Ahead of EuroBasket Qualifiers

The quest to punch a ticket for FIBA EuroBasket 2017 will involve Great Britain Senior Men embarking on a comprehensive preparation programme ahead of their crucial qualifying campaign.

Head Coach Joe Prunty and his players will assemble for the first phase of their training camp in Coimbra, Portugal on 07 August where they will stay for a week.

This opening chapter of preparation will see GB take part in a tournament involving Portugal and Germany, with games taking place on 12 and 13 August.

The team will then fly to Ljubljana on 15 August for five days of practice, which will centre around a friendly clash against Slovenia at the Tivoli Arena on 20 August.

By the 22 August, the final stretch of preparation will see the team based at the National Basketball Performance Centre at Belle Vue in Manchester.

There will be a scrimmage against Netherlands on 26 August and a ticketed game (details to follow in due course) against the same opponents on 27 August.

GB Senior Men 2016 Prep Schedule

12 August vs Portugal – Coimbra, Portugal
13 August vs Germany – Coimbra, Portugal
20 August vs Slovenia – Ljubljana, Slovenia
26 August vs Netherlands – NBPC Manchester, England (closed door scrimmage)
27 August vs Netherlands – NBPC Manchester, England

The team will then make the trip to Hungary on 31 August for their vital first EuroBasket 2017 qualifying game, before returning home for a three game stretch at the Copper Box in London.

The opening home game will take place on Saturday 03 September against FYR of Macedonia (6.30pm tip) and will be followed by match-ups against Luxembourg on Wednesday 07 September (7pm tip) and against Hungary on Saturday 10 September (6.30pm tip).

The qualifying campaign will conclude with road trips to FYR of Macedonia on 14 September and to Luxembourg on 17 September.

All of the home qualifying games will also be part of a wider ‘Festival of Basketball’ which will take place in both Manchester and London. Tickets to the home qualifying games are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk/GBbasketball
