Teddy Okereafor Named to All-MAAC Second Team

Teddy Okereafor has been named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-2nd team after a string of big-time performances for Rider.

The junior guard averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in Conference play and received praise from his Head Coach.

“Teddy has done a great job solidifying the point guard position,” said Kevin Baggett. “He’s run the team. He is an unselfish player, sometimes he needs to be more selfish, but he can do any number of things for us.”

Okereafor set a new career-high at the beginning of the season following a 29-point display against Lehigh.

The former England under-18 international had to sit out the entire 2013-14 season after transferring from VCU. Okereafor has started all 31 games this season, and reached double figures on 18 occasions including a run of seven straight games in February.

A first career double-double came for Okereafor, against Saint Peter’s, when he grabbed 10 rebounds along with 12 points, while he also dished out a season-high 8 assists twice this campaign.

Rider are the second seeds heading into the MAAC Tournament, which begins this weekend, awaiting the winner of Saint Peter’s or Fairfield, in the quarter-finals.
