Teddy Okereafor Scores Career High 29pts to Lead Rider University to Victory

Teddy Okereafor produced a career-high of 29 points to guide Rider University to a 78-74 win against Lehigh on Friday night.

The London-born guard has made an immediate impact to his junior season having sat out the entire 2013-14 campaign following his transfer from VCU.

Okereafor shot 8-12 from the field for his 29 points including 5/9 from beyond the arc whilst also adding six rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Broncs made it two wins in a row.

“I was trying to stay aggressive and do what the team needs me to do, what the defence allows,” he told the club’s website.

Head Coach Kevin Baggett labelled the display as an ‘awesome night’ while Okereafor also received praised from team-mate Jimmie Taylor, via the Trentonian.

“He brings great leadership,” the sophomore guard said. “He’s very smart and he knows the game of basketball, especially with his experience. I learn from him. He’s older than me and teaches me stuff at practice that carries over to the game.”

“I know he has it in him,” Baggett added. “Any given night we have different guys stepping up. Tonight was Teddy’s night. He took charge when we needed him to take charge.”

In the same game, Jesse Chuku scored 9 points for the visitors as they fell to a third straight defeat.
