Brits in College – Week 10 Recap

With the tenth week of the college basketball season completed, we take a look at all the top performing Brits in NCAA Division 1 in the past seven days.

Player of the Week

Teddy Okereafor was instrumental for Rider after scoring 16 points (6-8 FG) in an 82-79 overtime win against Manhattan, with 14 coming in the second half. The junior guard also dished out seven assists, had six steals and collected four rebounds.

“I told Teddy before the game to just go out and play, and he sure did.” said Head Coach Kevin Baggett.

Okereafor then flirted with a triple-double in a 78-68 loss to Iona after finishing with 11 point, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in 38 minutes of action.

Best of the Rest

Luke Nelson top scored with 16 points and had four assists in a crushing 80-49 victory for UC Irvine. Team-mate Alex Young scored 4 points, whilst adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Senior guard/forward Chris Caird stepped up in a win for Drake this week after netting 4-7 from beyond the arc on his way to a 16-point haul. Will Saunders continued his fine run of form with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in a 73-65 win for Charleston Southern, before adding 3 points as his side made it four on the bounce.

Shore Adenekan scored 11 points in a 58-52 win for Seattle last weekend, with Jack Crook adding 4 points. Adenekan then contributed 7 points and 6 rebounds in a 20-minute cameo off the bench, while Crook added 6 points, 4 boards and 2 assists as Seattle claimed their second win of the week; beating Chicago State 75-67.

Ben Lawson scored 10 points and added 5 boards as Western Kentucky made it seven straight wins with an overtime victory over UTEP. The 7′ footer also had 5 points and 6 rebounds in another win earlier in the week. Kinglsey Okoroh had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks in a 79-44 loss for Cal Bears.

Lehigh picked up two home wins this week with Jesse Chuku adding contributions of 3 points, 5 rebounds and 7 points, 3 rebounds in the two victories. Gabe Olaseni scored all of his four points from the foul-line in a 76-67 win for Iowa over Ohio State, before his side suffered a heavy 82-50 defeat at Wisconsin.
