BUCS Final 8s

The 2013 BUCS Final 8s are set, after Wednesday saw the Last 16 knockout games played to determine who will be competing for the 2013 BUCS Championship in Leeds in March.

Durham, Brunel, LSBU and Loughborough all got automatic Byes into the Final 8 for being top two in the Premier South and North respectively (who knew that rule was brought in?! Format seems to have changed again), whilst Northumbria, Worcester, Leeds Met, and Glasgow all qualified after beating their respective opponents.

The results from the Final 16 games are as follows:

Northumbria beat Oxford 92-60
Worcester beat LSE 107-36
Leeds Met beat Middlesex 80-52
Glasgow beat Bath 87-79

The scoreline’s reflect just how much of a gulf in quality there is between North and South.

I believe this also throws BUCS plan for their elite National league into question

Surely the gulf is between those Unis which have an established elite system and those without?
