Will Neighbour Turns Pro After Joining Oviedo

Former GB U20 international Will Neighbour has signed his first professional contract after joining Spanish LEB Gold side Oviedo.

Neighbour graduated from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock earlier this summer having averaged 16.3 points per game in his senior year along with 7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. The 24-year-old became just one of six players to have racked up over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds with the Trojans.

The 6’10” forward will ply his trade in the Spanish second division and play alongside Andreas Schreiber, who has had spells in the BBL with Plymouth Raiders and Worcester Wolves.

Neighbour, a former GB Futures players, has also received GB Senior call ups in the past, but been unable to participate due to injury.

In 2010, Neighbour averaged 15.1 points per game and 7.8 rebounds at the Under-20 European Championships and becomes the latest member of that squad to turn professional with Ovie Soko and Nigel van Oostrum also both securing their first pro deals this summer in France and the Netherlands respectively.
