GB Senior Men’s Squad Reduced for Training Camp

GB Senior Men 2017

The Great Britain Senior Men’s squad has been reduced to nineteen prior to training camp opened at Manchester’s National Basketball Performance Centre this week, Hoopsfix can exclusively reveal.

Fahro Alihodzic, Jermel Kennedy, Jesse Chuku, Chris Caird, and Conner Washington, are the five players to miss out from the initial 24 that were announced last month.

Meanwhile, sources have told Hoopsfix Kentucky’s Sacha Killeya-Jones is expected to join the team in Greece on Saturday, having had prior academic commitments to fulfil, whilst Ben Gordon remains on the list, with staff hoping he will still be able to join the team.

Additionally, Myles Hesson continues to rehab from his fractured tibia injury and it seems unlikely he will be healthy in time for the campaign.

The squad opened up with a strength and conditioning camp last week, before the on-court duties with Head Coach Joe Prunty began on Monday. They departed for Patras, Greece on Wednesday, where they remain until games on Monday and Tuesday next week, from there, they head to Israel for a game on the 13th, before returning to London on the 14th for their exhibition against Greece at the Copper Box on the 19th (full prep schedule here).
