Great Britain Under-20s Reduced to 16 with First Cuts

The Great Britain Under-20s squad has been reduced to 16 after the first round of cuts with the team now preparing to fly to Portugal on Friday for a preparation tournament.

Harvey Barr – who struggled with injury throughout the camp – was among the first of four players released on Wednesday afternoon along with Moses Byekwaso, Selby Hind-Wills and Findlay Wood.

Three more players were cut on Thursday with Boban Jacdonmi, Sam Newman and late addition George Darling released from the squad.

Only 12 players will be taken to Portugal, and those will be as follows:

Kyle Carey – Myerscough / Lancashire Spinners
Liam Carpenter – Crailsheim Merlins (GER)
Jules Dang Akodo – LTH Castings Skofja Loka (SLO)
Pharroh Gordon – College of St Rose (USA)
Sam Idowu – Saint Peter’s University (USA)
Callum Lawson – Western Wyoming Community College (USA)
Fraser Malcolm – Black Hills State University (USA)
Kingsley Nwagboso – Connors State College (USA)
Earl Russell – Western Wyoming Community College (USA)
Joshua Steel – University of Duquesne (USA)
Deane Williams – Augusta University (USA)

Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye will join the team when they return from Portugal, while Theo Oghide, Sedale Hanson-Young and Shaquille Walters are not travelling with the team, but remain part of the squad.

Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas and his staff must decide on four more players to release before confirming their 12-man squad for their European Championships campaign from 15-24 July.
