Rahmon Fletcher Named 2015-16 BBL MVP

Rahmon Fletcher has been announced as the 2015-16 BBL Most Valuable Player (MVP) after another impressive season with Newcastle Eagles.

The American guard adds the award to his collection of individual honours in the BBL having been named Finals MVP in his side’s BBL Cup triumph, in January. In two seasons in the league, Fletcher has now won four individual MVP awards as well as five trophies with Newcastle.

Fletcher averaged 14.3 points, 5.5 assists as well as 1.5 steals during the campaign and joins a long list of Eagles players to have won the accolade including this year’s team-mates, Charles Smith (2014-15) and Joe Chapman (2011-12).

The Kansas native recorded three double-doubles in the league this season and recorded a season-high of 32 points in his final game as Newcastle bowed out of the BBL Playoffs despite beating Cheshire Phoenix in the second leg.

Earlier this week, GB captain Drew Sullivan was announced as the BJA Player of the Year and was one of the main contenders for the BBL’s top award.

Also in the mix were the three players who joined Fletcher and Sullivan in the All-BBL First Team with Neil Watson, Kieron Achara and Jerrold Brooks enjoying strong campaigns.
