With the fifth week of the college basketball season completed, we take a look at all the top performing Brits in NCAA Division 1.

Player of the Week

Teddy Okereafor starred again for Rider University after scoring 4 points including the game-winning shot with 10 seconds left against Hartford. The junior guard also dished out 7 assists and had 5 rebounds in the 63-61 win.

“I wasn’t shooting the ball great so I was trying to facilitate more,” Okereafor said via The Trentonian. “At the end of the game, coach kept me in and I’m expected to make plays and lead the team, so I have to take that shot if I’m open. I’m going to take that shot.”

“It gave me confidence to know that even if he’s struggling, you can still count on him to make the big shot,” added Head Coach Kevin Baggett.

He followed that with a 21-point haul in a 62-48 win over Morgan State after shooting 8-11 from the field including 3-4 from downtown.

Best of the Rest

UC Irvine’s Luke Nelson (pictured) tied his season-high with 19 points in a loss at UT Arlington, while team-mate Alex Young had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists as well as a career-high six steals – all coming in the first half. He then had 16 points in a 63-62 defeat at home to Morgan State, while Nelson missed the game through illness.

Iowa senior Gabe Olaseni had 5 points and 3 blocks in a 90-75 defeat to Iowa State. Jesse Chuku collected 5 rebounds and scored 2 points (0-7 FG) in an 80-65 defeat for Lehigh on Thursday.

Jack Crook had 6 points and 11 rebounds for Seattle in a 54-38 win, while Theo Turner pulled down 10 boards in a following 84-58 victory against Northwest University.

Chris Caird scored 9 points and added 3 rebounds in a loss at Green Bay, before scoring 14 to help Drake to a 76-66 win at home to Jackson State.

Will Saunders provided Charleston Southern with a spark off the bench with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals, but they fell to a 64-58 loss at Wofford. Meanwhile, Jamie Batish netted a triple in a 78-66 win for Western Illinois.
