Full 2015 EuroBasket Line-up Completed

The 24 nations that will compete at next year’s EuroBasket have been finalised after the Second Round of qualification came to an end on Wednesday.

10 teams were already guaranteed of their place due to competing at the upcoming FIBA World Cup including defending champions France (pictured) as were First Round qualification winners Estonia, all before the Second Round took place.

Israel, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Belgium then secured their places this past week by being assured of topping their groups leaving the final 9 places to be confirmed on Wednesday.

Georgia, Italy and Poland booked their tickets by winning their respective groups and were joined in qualifying by the six best runners-up leaving Romania as the unfortunate team to miss out in a 6-way tie on goal average.

Great Britain, Montenegro and Sweden are the only 3 teams from the 24 participants from the 2013 EuroBasket not to qualify as Iceland, Estonia and the Netherlands take their place. Iceland defeated GB home and away to secure their first appearance at the major tournament while Estonia will end a 14-year wait and Netherlands qualified for the first time since 1989.

The full list of teams as follows:

Belgium, France, Israel, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Georgia, Latvia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Estonia, Greece, Netherlands, Turkey, Finland, Iceland, Poland and Ukraine.

FIBA Europe have yet to announce the tournament hosts with a number of nations putting in bids following the decision to take the right away from original hosts Ukraine due to political and financial crisis.
