Spalding Agree 3 Year Deal as Official Ball Supplier of England Basketball

Spalding has signed a three year deal with England Basketball to become the official ball supplier of the English Basketball League, starting for the 2014-15 season.

The agreement will see all registered national league clubs utilising Spalding balls for league competitions.

The deal is the latest in Spalding’s big push for the UK market, having signed a multi-year deal as the kit supplier for the British Basketball League last year. Spalding replace Baden, who were EB’s previous ball sponsor.

“This partnership is another great step forward for England Basketball in working with like-minded organisations to proliferate the growth of the game,” said England Basketball Chief Executive, Huw Morgan.

“Spalding’s strong brand and extensive reach within basketball will allow us to connect with a wider playing audience, and will provide a more effective service to our member clubs playing within the EBL. We are pleased to be working with such a prestigious brand as Spalding and look forward to a fruitful partnership in the years to come”.

“We are delighted in announcing another step towards increased brand penetration within the UK basketball marketplace for Spalding and for the EBL to join our extensive roster of leagues around the globe playing with Spalding,” added Paul Sherratt, the Spalding Country Manager for UK & Ireland.

“The great work England Basketball is doing in enabling more people to be able to play the sport aligns with our aims at Spalding to ensure a continued growth of basketball in the UK, and is something we look forward to working with them on to help more people get on court”.

The deal includes the men and women senior national leagues (not the WBBL, though), and the junior national leagues. The senior leagues will play with the TF500, while the junior leagues will play with the TF250. Senior teams will receive 3TF500’s, while junior national league sides will receive 2 TF250’s.

Balls with EB’s logo on will roll out for the 2015 season, and while the deal is initially only for national leagues, it is expected to eventually cover national schools competitions as well.

RJM Sports, of Falkirk, will be servicing the agreement. They will operate as the official fulfilment partner between Spalding and all the EBL teams. Fulfilment will be via their newly launched dedicated website www.rjmbasketball.co.uk
