England U18s Come Up Short Against Serbia

England Under-18s dropped to 1-1 at the Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Germany, as they fell 64-60 at the hands of Serbia on Sunday afternoon.

England remained neck and neck with the Serbians throughout, but marred by foul trouble, with both Theo Oghide and Deane Williams fouling out, the final hurdle proved too much to climb. Akwasi Yeboah (pictured, above) hit a three with just over a minute left to tie the game, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way, as Serbia came up with big baskets whenever they needed to respond.

England were also without Josh Steel who sat out with a foot infection which he ended up getting operated on later that day. He is expected to miss the remainder of the tournament.

Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye had 16 points to lead England, Yeboah added 13 points and Jules Dang Akodo joined them in double figures with 10.

England will look to bounce back when they face Sweden at 2pm local time on Monday.

Box score.
