Whether or not he suits up again, he’s done GB proud over and over again. Changed Great British Basketball and was a real driving force for the Sport & Nation

Great to hear him say he wants to involved moving forwards. Hope GB Basketball can make that happen!

Yep, you cant question Luol’s contribution to GB basketball. Be great to see him suit up again.

It was good to see GB end with such a convincing win and such strong contributions from the bench.

Can’t help but feel, though, that the coach should have utilised his bench more earlier in the tournament …Achara certainly had a point to prove against China.

We are all wise after the event but I do feel bringing DVO in on the point would have been a risk worth taking.

Be interesting to see who ends up as head coach …

GB has automatic entry to next summer’s Eurobasket, so maybe Deng will see how that goes in terms of judging what path basketball is taking in this country. Takes place around 6 weeks before the NBA 2013-14 season begins and almost 3 months after the Finals in 2013. Skip the early warm-up games and he could get 12-13 weeks off (depending on the Bulls) to rest up.

British Basketball received £8.6M of funding from UK Sport for the period 2008-2012.

Mens and womens targets for the 2012 Games were 5th – 8th, so invariably we will see a cut in funding going forwards – the question is by how much. Missing out on the quarters was significant on many levels.

Hoopsfix – by nice to see a reflective piece on this issue when the Games dust settles.

David Cameron has stated that elite sports will be “fully funded” to the tune of £120 million pounds – a year – in preparation for Rio.

How much of this will be allocated to GB basketball?
