England U18s Defeat Hungary, Secure Top Spot

Luke Nelson England U18s BasketballEngland Under-18s remained undefeated with a 4-0 record on Sunday, defeating Hungary 63-58 at the Division B European Championships in Sarajevo.

The win means Steve Bucknall’s side has secured first place in Group A with one game to spare.

Luke Nelson (pictured, above) had 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead England, Tyrell Isaacs had 13 and Kingsley Okoroh pulled down 16 boards, along with 2 blocks and 7 points.

England will now play Scotland on Monday evening to complete the preliminary round.

Absolutely great performance from the boys.

Of course they have some very tough games ahead and only the top thee teams can qualify for Division A, but well done to top their first group.

Fantastic 2nd half defensive performance holding Hungary to just 20 points saw England through to this victory. Half time talk from coaches Steve Bucknall and Karl Brown did the trick!

Great stuff. The second round will be much tougher but it seems like the team have really hit their stride!

Team playing great stuff. Have beaten Estonia and Israel (2nd in Group a) have beaten Czech Republic.

England have an excellent chance to top Group E and go through for 1st to 4th place.
