Great Britain Under-20s notched their sixth consecutive victory at the 2011 Division B European Championships on Saturday, as they routed Romania, 104-50.
The victory means they will now face Iceland for the second time in three games on Sunday, the 13th/14th place playoff, in what will be their final game of the tournament.
With Ryan Richards sitting out due to an ankle injury sustained the day before, Devon Van Oostrum ran the show, finishing with 23 points on 9/14 shooting, adding 3 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals in just 24 minutes. Alex Marcotullio added 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in 23 minutes, going 6/7 from long range, Adam Thoseby had 17 points, whilst Will Saunders had 9 points and 7 rebounds without missing a field goal.
Tim Lewis was pleased with the victory:
“Tonight’s game was comfortable, Romania aren’t a bad team, but we did an extremely good job. It was a great effort all round, we shared the ball well and we stuck to our play, so I’m very pleased with it. We took care of things defensively, and our offence worked on the back of that.”
