England U18s Go Down to Belgium

England Under-18s saw their record drop to 1-1 at the Division B European Championships after losing to Belgium, 68-56, in Varna, Bulgaria on Friday.

Ross Wilson led England with an 11 point-13 rebound double double, Zak Wells finished with 8 points on 4/5 shooting in just 10 minutes, Rowell Graham added 7 points, Harry Turner had 5 points 6 rebounds and 3 steals, and Jordan Spencer had 6 assists along with his 5 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Raphell Thomas-Edwards finished with 4 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists.

  • Coach Bucknall went with a small lineup for vast stretches of the game, playing Raph Thomas-Edwards, Rowell Graham and Ross Wilson inside. Seven footer Zak Wells played just 10 minutes, finishing with 8 points, as did 6’10” Jack Crook (4 points, 4 rebounds).
  • Despite shooting 54% inside the arc, England were abysmal from outside, going just 1/22 (4.5%).
  • All players apart from one (David Sainsbury) saw at least 10 minutes.
