BUCS Women’s Final 16 Knockouts Draw

This week saw the draw of the Final 16 Knockout stage of the Women’s BUCS Championships competition. Winners of these knockout games go on to the culmination of the BUCS season, the Final 8′s, to be held from the 18th-20th March at the EIS, Sheffield. All Final 16 games will be played on the 23rd February 2011.

Leeds Metropolitan University (1st Premier North, 9-1) vs MMU Cheshire (2nd Midlands Conference 1A, 7-3)
London South Bank University (2nd Premier South, 9-1) vs Sheffield Hallam University (5th Premier North, 4-6)
Northumbria University (3rd Premier North, 6-4) vs University of Strathclyde (1st Scottish Conference 1A, 8-0)
UWIC (1st Premier South, 9-1) vs University of Kent (1st Southern Conference 1A, 8-2)
Loughborough University (4th Premier North, 4-6) vs Brighton University (5th Premier South, 1-9)
Edinburgh University (2nd Premier North, 7-3) vs University of Durham (1st Northern Conference, 10-0)
London Metropolitan University (3rd Premier South, 7-3) vs Exeter University (1st Western Conference 1A, 7-1)
Notes
- With no response from BUCS as to how the draw is done, it seems strange that there are only three North vs South match ups , this could well be a coincidence from a random draw but Durhams Men’s and Women’s teams drew Edinburgh whilst Northumbria’s teams both drew Scottish sides.
- Edinburgh managed to grab second place in the Premier North but have drawn Durham (from the Northern Conference 1A). Durham have yet to loose a game this season in both BUCS and National League Division 2, no doubt a tough draw.
