It looks like there will be at least one Brit playing NBA Summer League ball, after Eric Boateng has been named to a team roster.
Eric Boateng, a 6’10 250lb big man who has just finished his college career at Arizona State, has been announced on the New York Knicks Summer League Roster. Boateng didn’t declare for this year’s NBA draft and was expected back in England over the summer after being named to the GB Men’s Senior team roster.
Richards, who was drafted with the 49th pick of the NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs, is expected to be suiting up for the Spurs’ Summer League team.
The NBA Summer League in Vegas runs from July 11th-17th (GB training camp opens up on the 16th), so I assume Boateng will join the team late, however, if he gets an outside shot at making a roster it could mean another man missing from GB’s initial wish list…

As a senior, Boateng didn’t actually need to declare (not that it matters either way as he didn’t have a shot of getting drafted). Don’t think he has a shot at making a roster either, so hopefully he’ll be back not too late for the GB camp. We need all the bigs we can get!
Yeah I’m hoping he is back!
Get in the nba you two above me shut up.

i see no richards
Yeah the article states he is ‘expected’ to, by the looks of things, like you say, perhaps he isn’t which would be a shame. I’m hopefully catching up with him this week so will find out the deal.
It selfish to want eric to play for GB instead of attempting to make the roster. He can always play for GB, bt this isn’t an oppurtunity he will have access to every summer…
I’m just saying I’m hoping he makes it back for GB camp-it’s not saying I don’t think he should play NBA summer league. There’s a difference.
He can always play for GB just as much as he can always make an NBA summer league roster-both of them you have to be selected for.
its not hard making it to GB if your playing out the country is it??
Good luck to Eric!!
Liam Potter is also on the Hornets Summer League Roster
