An invite-only elite training camp has opened up in Loughborough this weekend, as ‘5or6 Elite’ aims to fill a gap for players returning home from overseas during the summer.

The elite environment for current and aspiring professionals, is a 4-day camp, bringing a cross section of players from professionals abroad to NCAA college players.

The event is the brainchild of Pete Simmons, the CEO of 5or6, a digital consultancy specialising in branding, websites & digital marketing, who also sponsor the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic.

Simmons has become more ingrained with the British basketball scene over recent years, first working with the Leicester Riders, before doing projects with Hoopsfix, the BBL, Deng Camp, along with a number of individual players on their branding and profile. It has allowed him to build a solid network of players that sees a first year roster for the camp feature no less than five Great Britain Senior internationals.

“Speaking to the players we recognised there’s a gap for guys returning home from long seasons overseas,” Simmons said. “They are all looking for high level opportunities to work on their game – this is what we are trying to provide.”

“The response has been awesome with sponsorship from 5or6, Tokyo Time and Wilson all supporting the four days.

“I’m excited to bring together the senior pros like Ashley Hamilton with young guns like Tomiwa Sulaiman. We have a great roster with six senior Internationals. We’re also honoured to have one of the best skills coaches in the country in Gary Maitland, along with Krumesh Patel and Mark Jarram coaching, and GB Physio Aaron Wharton amongst our staff. It’s a great opportunity for us all.”
