Scotland Fall to Australia in Semi, Now Target Bronze

Scotland’s hopes of a 2018 Commonwealth Games Finals appearance came to an end after a heavy 103-46 loss at the hands of Australia in the semi-finals in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Attention will now turn to trying to capture a bronze medal, as they return to action Sunday at 12:00am to face New Zealand.

Australia went on an 18-0 run early in the game, taking a commanding 24-4 lead with 8:34 still left in the first half and would cruise the rest of the way as Scotland had no answers.

A 27-0 run in the third quarter from the Boomers took things from bad to worse for the Scots, whose impressive undefeated run at the Games was put to an emphatic end.

Ali Fraser and Fraser Malcolm led Scotland with 9 points-a-piece, with Gareth Murray held to just 8.

Australia were led by 17 points from Jesse Wagstaff, as five players hit double figures.

Box score.
