So, the semi-finals are today:

Spain v Macedonia
Russia v France

Who do you like to advance to the final and go on and win it all?

I think Spain will beat Macedonia although it will be their toughest game yet. I doubt they have anyone who can stop Bo McCalebb but they at least have a few decent defenders (Llull, San Emeterio, Rubio, Sada) to throw at him. And they will have a massive advantage inside.

I like France in the other semi-final because of their athleticism, inside play and Tony Parker, though they could be crippled by their lack of outside shooting. I haven't actually seen Russia play yet but it sounds like they're playing very well, so I'm sure this one will come down to the last minute. I'll pick France to nick it.

I would expect Russia to repeat their second-round result and beat Macedonia in the third-place playoff.

And I have Spain beating France in the final. This'll be a fun one, but Spain are the deepest and most complete team in the tournament, and I don't see any way you can stop them. Noah might have some success defending the Gasols, but Spain will zone up against France and make this a low-scoring game.

3. Russia
4. Macedonia

I'm feeling smug after getting this right, but it's a shame the final wasn't a more competitive affair...Spain were in a class of their own.

Haha true stories. Spain were most definitely head and shoulders above the rest. Can't wait to see them going up against the US next year in London!
