Default Point Guards

I think it's obvious that this position is our biggest weakness.

Ogo is our starting PG right now and not to be harsh, but he isn't going to be very successful at running a team in Eurobasket and the Olympics.. Not to mention containing point guards at this level. He might develop, but he's young right now. It seems my fear came true last night as Parker exploited him last night, so people have said.

Who else? Devon? Great great talent, but like Ogo he isn't there yet. Too young and not experienced enough.

I think our best case for the Olymics is playing Gordon and Reinking together in the backcourt (if Gordon ever plays). Neither are real Point Guards, but both are the most ready. Both can flat out score.

So not to be too negative, but our PG's are going to get exploited big time in Eurobasket.

I agree, Gordon and Reinking is the optimal backcourt. PG was definitely a problem at the last Eurobasket and will be again.

The fact that we are missing Pops also hurts a lot in this area as we don't have a great shotblocker protecting the rim, which makes it a lot easier for guys like Parker to do damage.

I like Reinking as much as the next guy but by the time the Olympics roll around he's going to be pushing 40. That's not the age you want for your starting point guard.

So do you think Reinking is going to be much worse than he is now this time next year? He'll still be playing at a similar level to what he is now next August.

Reinking is key. He really is an exceptional shooter. Not just a spot up guy, but he can create his own offense. He was great last Eurobasket putting up points against some of the worlds best.

The Olympics might just wrap up his career, but he's going to be there and contributing better than any guard GB currently have, unless he gets injured.
