Andrew Lawrence Joins Châlons-Reims in Pro-A

Andrew Lawrence has signed for Châlons-Reims in the French top-flight after leaving Sigal Prishtina.

The GB guard’s latest move was announced by his agency Two Points on Monday evening with Lawrence having already announced his departure from Kosovo.

Lawrence impressed in the FIBA Europe Cup with Prishtina with a 33-point haul coming in the group phase before leading his side to their first win of the competition.

“I enjoyed my time in Kosovo. I met some really great people over there,” reflected Lawrence. “They have passionate fans who know there basketball and it was compelling for me to experience a different culture.”

“It was fantastic to represent them in the European competition especially. I’m now looking forward to the new challenge in France.”

The French league is widely regarded as one of the best in Europe and currently boasts fellow Great Britain player Myles Hesson who plays for Gravelines Dunkerque.

“It all happened quite quickly to be honest. I came to France on Monday and was up early to complete my medical on Tuesday. I was in practice that evening.”

“I know there are some great teams in this league and I believe I’m at one of them. The players and staff have been very welcoming and I’m looking forward to suiting up in the Pro-A.”

“I’ve kept in touch with Myles (Hesson), and have a knowledge of what I can expect over here. I’m itching to get started and see what we can achieve this season.”

The 26-year-old has plied his trade in Croatia, Spain and Kosovo during his professional career so far having graduated from College of Charleston in 2013.

Lawrence averaged 15.8 points along with 5.0 assists per game in the FIBA Europe Cup, whilst averaging the same number of assists plus 7.9 points in 20.1 minutes per outing in the Kosovan league.

Châlons-Reims currently have a 5-7 record in Pro-A with an 87-89 defeat against Gravelines in their last games as Myles Hesson impressed in his side’s win.
