Rio 2016 Olympics – Day 4 Recap

The hosts claimed their first win in the men’s tournament on the fourth day at the Rio 2016 Olympics, while Lithuania and Argentina improved to 2-0 starts.

Here’s a brief recap on what went down on Day 4:

Spain v Brazil

The silver medallists from the past two Olympics find themselves 0-2 in Rio after going down 66-65 in a thriller against the hosts, Brazil. Down 11 in the third, Spain battled back to take a lead in the fourth, but were undone by Marquinhos’ putback in the final seconds of the game. Pau Gasol led his side with 13 points and 10 rebounds, but his seven missed free throws including two, crucially down the stretch would prove costly. In what was a balanced scoring effort from Brazil, Marcelo Huertas top scored with 11 points to help his side pick up their first win of the tournament.
