GB Senior Men Cut to 16 for Camp

British Basketball have announced a 16-man GB Senior squad as they begin their preparations for the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2017 qualifiers.

Joe Prunty’s squad have flown out to Portugal to begin camp with their first warm-up games at the end of this week against the hosts and Germany.

There are three uncapped players in the reduced roster including Ben Gordon and Gabe Olaseni who are expected to arrive in camp later this week.

They are joined in the squad by six players who made their debuts last summer as well as the likes of GB regulars Kieron Achara and Dan Clark who provide experience.

“We are looking forward to the opening of camp,” said Head Coach, Prunty.

“It is an exciting roster with a balance of former Olympians, returning players from previous camps, familiar faces from U20 campaigns, and new faces. The group is hungry and ready to face the challenges of this summer.

“Our qualifiers will be difficult tests, but we really want to focus on having a great beginning to our camp. Our first few friendlies against Germany and Portugal will be tough competitions with a few days of prep, but we have familiarity with both opponents.”

Ashley Hamilton, Matthew Bryan-Amaning, Justin Robinson, Ogo Adegboye, Ali Fraser, Zak Wells, Chris Caird and rookie Justin Sears are the eight players included in the initial 24-man squad that will not be at camp in Coimbra.
