Tayo Ogedengbe Becomes Scorchers First Signing

Surrey Scorchers have announced that Tayo Ogedengbe will captain the new-look franchise in the 2015-16 season after becoming their first signing.

Ogedengbe previously played under Head Coach Creon Raftopoulos at Guildford/Surrey Heat between 2009-11 and has also had spells in the BBL with London Capital, London Lions and most recently, Glasgow Rocks, last season.

“When Creon and Gavin (Baker) approached me I had a tough decision to make,” he said. “It’s important to me to play for a club with the right infrastructure and support.

“With the support of the coach and Surrey Sports Park, I know I have made the right choice. I have a great history playing with basketball in Surrey and I absolutely love playing in front of the fans and on the court here.

“I can’t wait to get to work with Creon and the rest of the team to build a positive future for Surrey Scorchers.”

The 28-year-old Londoner averaged 15.3 points per game last season and was one of the most improved players in the second half of the season.

Ogedenge helped the Rocks reach the BBL Cup Final and finished the regular season with a season-high 34 points before Glasgow bowed out in the first round of the playoffs.
