Drew Sullivan Makes London Lions Exit

Drew Sullivan will not be playing for London Lions in the 2015-16 season after his exit from the club was confirmed today.

The GB captain, who is set to receive his 100th cap at the Copper Box Arena later this month, had signed a 2-year deal last summer.

Sullivan thanked the Lions fans following his exit from his hometown club, having led them to the BBL Playoff final at the O2 Arena, in May.

“I would like to thank all the Lions supporters for their support and encouragement throughout last season,” he said.

“I have really enjoyed playing in my home town which has meant a lot to me.

“I would like to thank my teammates and the Lions’ fans for making my return home and a special one.

“I would also like to wish the club all the best in the future.”

The 35-year-old averaged 14.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 38 games for the Lions last season.

Sullivan’s next destination is yet to be confirmed, with rumours linking him with a return to former club Leicester Riders with the GB captain saying ‘never say never’ about a possible return last month.

He told BBC Radio Leicester: “I’m not saying it’s going to happen but hypothetically I can see how what I bring to the table will fit into that group.”
