Paul Guede Joins French NM2 Side Cognac

GB guard Paul Guede has joined French NM2 side Cognac Basket for the 2015-16 season, the club confirmed.

The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season at Worcester Wolves in the BBL and made a strong impact for the club at both ends of the floor.

In 22 league games, Guede averaged 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game with a season-high of 18 points coming against the quadruple-winning Newcastle Eagles.

Guede becomes the latest Brit to depart the BBL for France with Andy Thomson, Gareth Murray and Tafari Toney all heading across the channel in recent years while Robert Marsden played at Cognac last season before returning to Manchester Giants.

The 6’5″ swingman competed for the GB under-20’s at the 2006 European Championships before heading to the States to begin his college career at NCAA D1 school Portland State.

So far in his pro career, Guede has spent two seasons at Slovakian side Prievidza either side of a year in Germany with Goettingen and next season with Cognac will be his fifth as a pro.
