Kyle Carey (’97) Picks Up MVP in Hoopsfix All Star Classic U19 Game!

England U18 and Preston College’s Kyle Carey has flown under the radar for a little while now, but after his performance at Brixton Rec on Saturday, it will be hard to stay that way.

The 1997 born guard/forward went 8/10 from the floor (3/4 from three) and 4/5 at the line for an easy 23 points in exactly 23 minutes to pick up the MVP in the Hoopsfix All Star Classic Under-19 game.

“It’s humbling to win the MVP award,” said Carey, who had the highlight of the day with an insane poster dunk on the break. “Especially as the talent level was so high. I just wanted to come out and play hard with lots of energy and most importantly, get the win.

“It was just so great to be a part of the event, and be recognised for all my hard work so to win the MVP was just even better.”

The 6’6″ hooper remains undecided on next year – whether or not he will remain in the UK another year or head to the US – but currently he is sitting on a couple of JUCO looks.

He had sections of the sell-out crowd chanting ‘MVP’ as he closed the game out at the free throw line, and earned praise from the likes of GB captain Drew Sullivan:
