Brits Abroad – Week 21 Round-up

Following the All-Star break, Luol Deng returned to action with Miami Heat and scored 29 points on Monday night in a 119-108 victory against Philadelphia.

Myles Hesson came up with a monster performance to help Bremerhaven (6-17) return to winning ways with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks off the bench. In Pro-B, Orlan Jackman led Iserlohn (16-4) to a 69-67 victory with a team-high 13 points and 8 rebounds. Jules Dang Akodo scored 21 points including five triples in an 88-83 defeat for Fraport Skyliners II (9-11) against Karlsruhe (11-9), who had 8 points from Robert Gilchrist.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu went 9-11 from the field for his game-high 24 points against Euroleague opponents Olympiakos, whilst adding 7 rebounds as AEK Athens (8-9) were beaten 83-77. Also, Ogo Adegboye scored 5 points and had 4 assists in a 78-75 win for Aris (10-6).

The regular season in Mexico came to an end as Soles finished third with a 30-10 record in the LNBP. Matthew Bryan-Amaning had a double-double with 13/10, before scoring 23 points in the final game to lead his side to two victories. In the Canadian NBL, Kyle Johnson made 8-9 from the free throw line for his 18 points to help Brampton A’s (16-14) to a 99-91 win, having contributed to another victory earlier in the week with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

In Argentina, Fahro Alihodzic scored 10 points as Estudiantes Concordia (14-20) fell to a heavy defeat, in Argentina. Will Neighbour had 11 points and 7 rebounds in a mid-week defeat for LF Basket (19-10) in Sweden, while Michael Ojo scored 15 points and added 6 assists as Eco Orebo (5-23) lost on the road.

Ashley Hamilton had 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists as Cherkasy (12-10) fell to a two-point loss at home, before they responded with a 90-89 win on the road. Dzaflo Larkai suffered back-to-back defeats with Yokohama (8-26) at the weekend, despite a double-double display of 14 points and 13 rebounds in the second of the two games.

Justin Robinson had 17 points in an 85-73 loss for Apollon (11-7) in Cyrpus. Two Brits clashed in LEB Gold action with Devon van Oostrum dishing out 4 assists along with 5 points in an 86-76 defeat for Penas Huesca (6-14) against Aaron Geramipoor‘s Ourense (14-7). Also, Mo Soluade scored 7 points and had 5 assists for Clinicas Rincon (4-17) as they lost by 19.

In France’s Pro-B, Ovie Soko had 19 points as Boulazac (14-7) claimed a 70-65 victory in mid-week. Tafari Toney produced a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double as Sorgues (8-13) recorded an 83-82 victory, in NM1. Meanwhile, Eric Boateng was a rebound shy of a double-double of his own with 20 points and 9 boards in a 94-87 loss for Mulhouse (9-12) and Rob Marsden scored four points as Cognac (5-15) suffered a narrow defeat.
