Brits Abroad – Week 15 Round-up

After a limited Week 14 schedule, the weekly Brits Abroad round-up is back with a look at the British action overseas from the past seven days.

Joel Freeland is still on the sidelines (shoulder strain) at Portland, while Luol Deng is currently averaging 8.2 points per game in January following successive months of averaging 14+. The leading Brit hit double figures in an impressive win on the road against LA Clippers, before scoring 8 points, and adding 8 rebounds in a slender victory over the Lakers.

Ryan Richards had an incredible week in Hungary with two 40+ point performances for Egis Kormend (4-10). The 23-year-old scored 40 points on 16-24 FG shooting, before bettering his new career-high with 41 points in his next outing – collecting 15 rebounds on both occasions.

Matthew Bryan-Amaning had a monster game in Mexico with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in a 91-64 win for Soles (21-9). The 26-year-old also had a double-double this week with 14 points and 14 boards in a second victory.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored 12 points and added 5 rebounds in a slender 73-71 defeat for AEK Athens (5-7). Ogo Adegboye scored 11 points, including 4/4 from the foul line, as Aris (6-5) were beaten on the road by title challengers Panithanikos.

Ashley Hamilton had a game-high 26 points, and dished out 8 assists to help Cherkasy (11-8) to a 79-76 mid-week victory. He followed that with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in another win. Apollon (6-4) enjoyed a convincing home win, with Justin Robinson scoring 9 points and dishing out 3 assists during the victory.

Kyle Johnson made his season debut in the Canadian NBL with the Brampton A’s (9-10) splitting two games this week. The GB guard scored 6 points in a 104-90 defeat, before scoring 8 and adding 5 rebounds in a following 102-92 victory.

Fuenlabrada (4-12) picked up their fourth victory in Liga Endesa action, with Dan Clark contributing 5 rebounds to the 83-66 victory. Aaron Geramipoor made his LEB Gold debut for Ourense (11-5) and came off the bench to add 3 points and 5 rebounds in the convincing 80-56 win. Will Neighbour scored four points off the bench in a defeat for Oviedo.

GB centre Eric Boateng made his debut for French NM1 side Mulhouse (4-10), scoring 2 points and adding 7 rebounds in a defeat to Quimper. Shane Walker starred in a win for Lourdes (10-4) with 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Tafari Toney was a rebound shy of a double-double after finishing with 11 points, 9 boards and 3 assists in an overtime defeat for Sorgues (5-9).

Orlan Jackman returned to action in Pro-B with 15 points and 9 rebounds as Iserlohn (12-2) won their opening game of 2015. Jules Dang Akodo scored four off the bench in a defeat for Fraport Skyliners II (6-8), while Robert Gilchrist also scored 4 points as Karlsruhe (9-5) picked up a home win.
