Pops Mensah-Bonsu to Join AEK Athens, After Short Stint in Israel Ends

GB forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu is off to Greece to join top division side AEK Athens after recently parting ways with Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel.

The 31-year-old featured in a handful of games including four EuroCup appearances, averaging 7.5 points and 3 rebounds per game before his exit – and has now agreed a deal with the Greek side, according to Eurohoops.

Mensah-Bonsu had been due to play in Greece after agreeing a 2-year deal with Olympiakos in the summer, before failing a medical. The 6’9″ forward adds another country to his growing resume having had most success in Turkey in recent seasons at Besitkas and Galatasaray.

Two other Brits are currently playing in the A-1 league with Ogo Adegboye representing Aris, and rookie Fahro Alihodzic at AGOR.

AEK Athens are currently 8th in the standings with a 4-6 record and play AGOR this weekend as the league action continues.
