Brits Abroad – Week 12 Round-up

Joel Freeland profited from an injury to Robin Lopez with a three consecutive starts during the week. The first of which, against San Antonio, was just his second start of his NBA career and he had 8 points against the defending champs. He also played a season-high 23 minutes against Houston as Portland’s five-game win streak ended.

Luol Deng scored 19 points in a loss at home to Washington, before helping Miami to a 100-84 victory over Boston with a 23-point haul.

Matthew Bryan-Amaning contributed 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in a convincing 118-89 win for Soles (16-8) in Mexico. GB forward Ashley Hamilton scored 4 points in an 88-73 defeat for Cherkasy (8-8).

Dan Clark helped Fuenlabrada (3-9) to their third win, beating Manresa 90-64, with 8 points and 5 rebounds. In LEB Silver action, Aaron Geramipoor had 13 points and 10 rebounds in a 95-58 loss for Canarias (3-9).

Ovie Soko top scored for Boulazac (7-5) with 12 points and 7 rebounds in a 78-67 defeat on the road in the French Pro-B.

In NM1, Robert Marsden was the only winning Brit with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists helping Cognac (4-10) to an 86-63 success. Tafari Toney was a rebound shy of a double-double after 17 points and 9 boards in a 75-72 loss for Sorgues (5-8).

Gareth Murray shot 0-6 from 3-point range, scoring 4 points in a defeat for Challans (7-7), with the GB forward playing in his last game for the club. Shane Walker scored 10 points off the bench, but Lourdes (9-4) suffered a 20-point loss on the road.

Myles Hesson scored 5 points for Bremerhaven (5-9) in a 97-81 defeat, including throwing down back-to-back alley-oop dunks in the Bundesliga.

Iserlohn (11-2) saw their long winning-run in Pro-B finally end just before the Christmas break in a 100-83 defeat at Weissenhorn. Orlan Jackman had 13 points and 5 rebounds in the loss. Robert Gilchrist scored 6 points from the bench in a 101-68 win for Karlsruhe (8-5), while Jules Dang Akodo scored 3 in a narrow 69-65 defeat for Fraport Skyliners II (6-7).

Dzaflo Larkai returned to action in Japan for Yokohama (4-20), with displays of 12 points and 6 rebounds, and 10 points and 7 rebounds in two weekend defeats.

Ryan Richards had a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Kormend (2-10) falling to another defeat. Justin Robinson had 11 points and 4 rebounds during an 83-80 home win for Apollon (5-3).

Devon van Oostrum‘s second loan spell of the season came to an end. The guard scored two points in 11 minutes in a 79-74 win for Kouvot (11-7) – which proved to be his final appearance with the Finnish side.

Meanwhile, his brother Nigel van Oostrum won his first game with Leeuwarden (4-10) last week after dishing out 2 assists in the 92-86 win.

Liam Potter has joined third placed Svendborg (9-3) in Denmark having been released by 7th placed Naestved (6-7).
