BBL Week 4 – Highlights Round-up

The latest BBL highlights round-up features five games this week including wins for Newcastle, Glasgow, Durham, Sheffield and Manchester.

Newcastle returned to familiar territory as they climbed into joint first position with two wins over the weekend. On Friday the Eagles defeated newcomers Bristol Flyers 98-72 with Andy Thomson leading the way with 20 points.

Glasgow Rocks ended the perfect start of Leicester Riders after recording their second straight home win with an 80-71 success at the Emirates Arena. GB’s Kieron Achara continued to have an immediate impact for the Rocks with 18 points while Tommy Freeman top scored with a 24 point haul.

Durham also enjoyed a successful double-header on the road picking up two victories, the first of which in Bristol with a 72-61 triumph. The Wildcats were paced by Panos Mayindombe’s 16 points while Ralph Bucci surpassed 1000 career BBL points during his 15 point contribution.

Sheffield Sharks improved to a 3-2 record after avenging their recent defeat to the Manchester Giants with a 96-80 victory at the EIS. Nick Lewis and Mike Tuck both top scored for the hosts with 20 points apiece to help their side return to winning ways.

Manchester did manage to bounce back from Friday’s defeat to beat Surrey 101-90 in league action on Sunday. Latvian guard Ingus Bankevics found his range from downtown on his way to a game-high 28 points while Kirk Crecco led the visiting United side with 27 points.
