John Amaechi – Are You Willing to #PayTheFEE? Win a Free ProCamp Day!

Former NBA star John Amaechi has launched a nationwide competition to offer up his services for one day entirely for free to England Basketball, Basketball Scotland or Basketball Wales registered clubs & coaches in a collaboration with Hoopsfix today.

You may have heard us allude to it on his Hoopsfix podcast interview last month, and after weeks of work behind the scenes we’re pleased to finally release it to the world.

The competition has been launched with a video, “Are You Willing to #PayTheFEE ?” (focus, effort, execution), featuring Amaechi’s personal message to all young up and coming basketball players in the UK, and then linking to a video offering a chance to win a free coaching day with the British basketball legend.

“I see the frustrated talent around the UK,” said Amaechi.

“Coaches and players both, who want to chase greatness, but find themselves fighting against the odds. I want to help play a part by providing a bit of inspiration and working with players and coaches in their own towns and cities to spread best-practice. I hope this can become an annual event so that more and more people can win a chance to expand their basketball knowledge.”

Amaechi has 10 of these ‘ProCamp’ coaching days to offer, where he will travel to your club, doing a morning coaches chalk talk, followed by an on-the-floor coaches session focused on the psychological, interpersonal and technical skills considered best practice for developing talent and then sessions with the players.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is record a video response to his competition video (here) explaining why you and your club want him to come and visit. No fancy editing or production skills needed, a simple video filmed on your iPhone or webcam is fine – once you’ve uploaded your response, just copy and paste the URL in the comments of his competition video.

The most creative, heartfelt and honest entries that describe how you want to succeed in basketball, are willing to pay the F.E.E. and most deserve a visit from John will be in with a chance of winning.

The contest will be closed on August 10th with John’s visits starting soon after!
