GB Fall to Latvia in Final Game of Doubleheader

Great Britain Senior Men fell to 0-2 in their preparation games with a 76-68 loss in the second game of their double header against Latvia this weekend in Worcester.

After a tight opening two periods, Latvia took control in the second half, holding a 12 point lead with just over a minute remaining, but a final late rally spearheaded by Myles Hesson saw GB reduce the final deficit.

“We definitely want to win the games, but we got better,” said Head Coach Joe Prunty. “That being said, there are a lot of things that we have to improve upon, especially at the defensive end.”

Dan Clark led GB with 19 points, Ashley Hamilton continued with his strong showing so far this summer with 12 points, and Hesson added 9.

“We were very disappointed in losing both games,” said GB Forward Kieron Achara. “We thought after yesterday we let one slide, and today, we were just flat when it came to the fourth quarter…we’ve got to work on our execution and be more of a team and I think if we can find a way to do that we’ll win games. I was really happy with our defence in stretches, but it wasn’t enough we’ve got to be more consistent.”

GB will now head back into training camp, before flying

Box score.
