England U18s Denied First Win by Czech Republic

England under-18’s came close to their first victory at the European Championships in Konya but saw the Czech Republic snatch a 55-50 win with the final seven points.

Karl Brown’s side took a two point lead with 3:14 left on the clock but failed to add to the scoreboard as their opponents charged to victory. Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye had a game-high 14 points along with 7 rebounds while Dean Williams and Sedale Hanson-Young both added 11 points. The return of Jules Dang Akodo provided a boost and the 18-year-old contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds in his first game back.

Despite losing all four games so far, England could still finish as high as ninth place. Russia and Belgium are their next two opponents before the crucial 9th-16th Classification games begin on Friday.
