England under-16’s limited their Division A opponents to just two points in the final quarter to record a 71-59 win in Croatia on Friday.
Carl Wheatle again top scored with 20 points while there were vital contributions from Luke Mitchell and Rayell Eytle-Rock, who scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
England had been beaten by the same opponents 24 hours earlier and seemed to be heading towards the same fate after going into half-time behind. However, an improved second half display saw them restrict Croatia when it mattered most as the visitors were able to complete the turnaround win.
The victory will serve as a huge boost for Alan Keane’s side as they build towards their upcoming Division B campaign at the European Championships. The team returns to the UK for camp next weekend before taking on the Netherlands the following weekend for two games at the University of East London. A game in Hungary is also scheduled before the Euros start on the 20th August.
