British Basketball Confirm Updated GB Squad

British Basketball have confirmed the updated GB Senior Men’s squad, as first reported by Hoopsfix on Wednesday morning, with some minor changes.

Joel Freeland, Byron Mullens, Ovie Soko, Justin Robinson, and James Jones are all out, the latter two due to injury. Luke Nelson is also an omission from the updated squad, after being named in the original 22, instead focusing on his time with the U20s and preparing for his sophomore season at UC Irvine.

Meanwhile Luol Deng is no longer listed, but it is believed discussions are ongoing following the signing of his new contract with Miami.

Devan Bailey, Conner Washington, and Orlan Jackman are the three late additions to the team, while Hoopsfix understands Nigel Van Oostrum is also at camp, but not part of the squad.

GB senior head coach Joe Prunty said:

“Players’ professional commitments and injuries have impacted our squad. It has also limited our opportunity to see some new talent in 2014.

“However, we have the core of last year’s successful 2013 team in place. We’re excited and ready to take on this challenge. It’s an important year and we are committed to qualifying for EuroBasket 2015.”

Ogo Adegboye, who was originally thought to be out, is now expected to join camp late according to British Basketball, while Matthew Bryan-Amaning (NBA Summer League) is also expected later.
