East Scotland Warriors

Edinburgh is the latest city to be awarded a BBL franchise, as the league announced the addition of the East Scotland Warriors today.

The new club will commence participation in BBL Competitions for the 2014-15 season and will be based out of the 2,400 seat Meadowbank Arena. The club will be commencing work on their community plans in the coming weeks.

“I am very excited to be a part of professional basketball returning to the City of Edinburgh,” owner Donald Sampley said. “I am really looking forward to working with everyone in East Scotland’s basketball community to grow the game, and help put Scotland’s youth basketball players on a pathway to the pros.”

The side joins Bristol Flyers as entrants for the 2014 season, potentially taking the league to 15 teams with the Birmingham Knights preparing for their rookie season this year.

“We are delighted to add a second club in Scotland and look forward to the exciting rivalry this will create with the Glasgow Rocks,” added Andy Webb, BBL Chief Operating Officer. “The strong community ethos of the club fits perfectly with our own beliefs and we look forward to seeing their development in this area over the course of the next season.”

Is this a joke? Ridiculous.

East Scotland Warriors? First the name is ridiculous. Why East Scotland? Sounds so stupid. Second of all, the logo. They’ve stolen Golden State Warriors’ logo and put a Scottish flag behind the bridge!!!!!

How is this proffesional?

My god. The BBL gets worse!

BBL needs to just shut down. Who are the backers? Some no name bloke from St Louis of all places. I sure hope the BBL didn’t approve this logo and branding. If so, shame on them

It’s interesting to see that the BBL are adding all these new teams for the season that the BBA is supposedly starting.

Why East Scotland? Just be Edinburgh.
