England U16s Lose Game 2 Against Sweden

England Under-16s went 0-2 against Sweden, suffering a 72-59 loss in the second game of the series on Saturday night in Bristol.

It was a better performance for England, but the same result. Aidan Gastaldi-Davies had 11 points to lead England, with Josh Steel adding 10 and Carl Wheatle 9 points and 10 rebounds.

“The two games were very useful, very valuable for us, we’ve learned a lot over the last two days,” said head coach Andreas Kapoulas. “We have areas we have to improve on defence, and offensively we’ve got to look after the ball, move the ball better, get everyone involved and attack them a bit later in the shock clock. But overrall it’s been a good learning experience and it has set us another step in our preparation for the European Championships.”

The team will now have another two training camps in Bristol, before heading to Prague to face the Czech Republic from July 10-13. They will then have a tournament in Finland, and games in Denmark at the end of July as the final parts of their preparation for the European Championships which will tip off on August 8th against Romania.

Box score.
