Englands U17s

England Under-17s returned from Cherbourg with a third place finish under their belt after going 3-2 at the tournament in France.

After finishing 2-1 in pool play to go through as the second seed behind the other English side in the tournament, Manchester Magic, England fell to a two point loss to eventual winners Paris-Levallois in the semi-finals.

The U17 developmental side, coached by Guy Coles and Matt Shaw, secured a 58-41 victory over Tunisia in the following play-off to seal their third place finish.

Despite losing in the semi-finals to Ireland, Manchester Magic got a shot at the title after Ireland were forced to miss the final to catch their ferry back(!). In the final, Paris-Levallois beat Magic 56-41.

England’s Eddie Matthews won the three point contest, whilst Manchester’s Pharroh Gordon made the all tournament team.

Thanks – made both updates. Waiting for roster to be confirmed so apologies for typos/missing players etc…it can be difficult sometimes with no effort being made by anyone to publicise these things!

My bad…easy mistake to make, just as easy as mistaking “come on” for “come one” ;-)

Congratulations England U17s! – a fantastic result as these lads have only been together as a squad for a few days.
