Ireland Superleague Select escaped Birmingham with an 83-80 victory over England Select on Sunday at the NIA, Birmingham, despite trailing most of the game.
Mindaugas Tamusauskas hit a shot to tie for game for Ireland with 1 minute 15 seconds remaining, and England would not score again following a score from Jason Killeen 20 seconds later to take the lead and a final free throw from Tamusauskas.
Ireland were led by Tamusauskas’ 17 points, Killeen finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds and Darren Towns added a 16 point, 10 rebound double double of his own.
Tayo Ogedengbe was dominant for England, finishing with 33 points despite missing 12 free throws, Kai Williams had 17 points, going 5/6 from deep and Mike Tuck joined them in double figures with a 10 point, 12 rebound double double.
